A custom jewelry gift box with EVA insert is a greyboard rigid box built to hold a ring, a pair of earrings or a necklace centred and cushioned through shipping. Jewelry brands use it because a scratched piece or a rattling stone reads as careless, and the rigid build is what the customer keeps. This guide covers the structure, the insert and the MOQ behind a 100-piece run.

Why jewelry needs a rigid box

A jewelry piece is small, valuable and easily damaged in a folding carton. A rigid box built on 1000 to 1500 gsm greyboard keeps the piece centred and the lid from flexing, and the insert does the fine work of holding the stone or clasp in place. Jewelry also lives on the dresser long after purchase, so the box is part of the product, not just the mailer. Our rigid box vs folding carton guide covers the protection trade-off, and the jewelry launch case study shows how a new brand ran a 100 MOQ first run.

Inserts: EVA vs flocked paperboard vs moulded pulp

The insert is what protects the piece. For a single ring or a pair of earrings we use a die-cut EVA foam block with a cavity cut to the piece, wrapped in a soft top layer. For a multi-piece set a flocked paperboard tray with separate wells keeps each piece apart. For a fine necklace we cut a channel for the chain and a cavity for the pendant so it cannot tangle. EVA reads the most premium; paperboard and pulp suit a lighter jewelry line.

Materials and branding

We wrap the greyboard in 157 gsm coated art paper, a soft-touch matte laminate, or a specialty stock such as textured color paper or faux leather for higher-end lines. Branding is usually a foil-stamped logo on the lid in gold, silver, rose gold or copper, paired with an embossed or debossed wordmark as a second tactile cue. Inside the lid we can hot-stamp a brand line or leave it plain.

MOQ, lead time and what you get

Jewelry box styles start at MOQ 100 pieces, which suits a launch run or a small capsule collection. Lead time is 7 to 12 working days after artwork approval. We supply a free dieline with the quote, a free plain-white sample for structure check, and a paid logo sample if you want the real material and finish. Pricing scales at 100 / 500 / 1000 / 5000 tiers.

Common pitfalls before you order

The most common jewelry-box issue is a cavity cut to the wrong diameter, so the ring scrapes the foam or the stone sits proud. We size the cavity to the exact piece dimensions you give us, and we ask for the chain or clasp thickness so the channel is right the first time. A second pitfall is a heavy full-coverage print on a small box; restraint reads more premium and lets the foil logo shine.

Frequently asked questions

What insert holds jewelry in a rigid box?

For a single ring or earrings we use a die-cut EVA foam block with a cavity cut to the piece, wrapped in a soft top layer. For a multi-piece set a flocked paperboard tray with separate wells keeps each piece apart and reads premium.

Can a jewelry box hold a necklace without tangling?

Yes. We cut a channel for the chain and a cavity for the pendant or clasp so the chain cannot loop and the pendant sits flat. Send the chain length and the pendant dimensions and we will cut the insert to match.

What is the MOQ for a custom jewelry gift box?

MOQ is 100 pieces from our Guangzhou factory, with a 7 to 12 working day lead time after artwork approval and a free dieline supplied with the quote.
