Why Pet Packaging Plays by Different Rules
Pet brands ship a strange mix of products: dry treats that need to stay crisp, squeaky toys that must survive a courier, and gift bundles that should feel like a present rather than a shipment. A beauty label can lean on looks alone; a pet label has to balance freshness, abuse resistance, and shelf presence at a price a small startup can still stomach. Folding Cartons for Treats and Chews
For dry biscuits, training treats, and chews, a folding carton is the workhorse. We print it on SBS white card or kraft at 250-350 gsm: light enough to keep freight down, heavy enough that a 200-500 g bag of treats does not bow the panel. Because it ships flat and folds at the pack station, you are not paying to air-freight empty volume. 
A common mistake is over-specifying the board. A 350 gsm SBS feels reassuring in hand, but on a low-margin treat SKU it just adds cost you cannot pass on. Mailers That Survive the Courier
Most direct-to-consumer pet orders ride in a van, not on a pallet. That is where a corrugated mailer earns its keep. An E or F flute board wrapped in kraft or white card absorbs the drops and stops a toy or a refill pouch from arriving as a pancake. The structure ships flat, so a run of 500 still fits in a modest carton on the way to you. 
Right-size it. A mailer one inch too long on two sides is dead air you pay dimensional weight on both ways, and it lets the product rattle. Give us the exact product dimensions and we will spec the dieline to the millimetre: free, as part of the order.

Premium Pet Gift Sets: Rigid and Collapsible
When the item is a curated bundle: a bandana, a toy, and a treat pouch in one box, a rigid box reads as a gift, not a shipment. Our rigid boxes use 1000-1500 gsm greyboard mounted with 157 gsm C2S art paper or a specialty wrap, and they ship assembled because the structure is built to hold its shape. If freight is the worry, the collapsible magnetic box is the one rigid type that folds flat: same greyboard and wrap, hidden magnets, premium feel, lower shipping cost.

What About Stand-Up Pouches?
Plenty of pet treats ship in stand-up pouches with a zipper closure, and they are a sensible format for resealable freshness. We will be straight with you: a pouch is a flexible film laminate, not a paper box, and it is not something we manufacture. What we do make is the carton that holds the pouch, the mailer that ships it, or the rigid gift box for a premium bundle. If your product is pouch-first, we build the paper secondary packaging around it rather than pretend otherwise. 
Start Small: MOQ 100 and a 7-12 Day Run
Pet brands iterate faster than most. A 100-piece first run lets you validate a label, a closure, and an unboxing with real customers before committing to 5,000. Our standard MOQ is 100 pieces across most box types: the industry used to ask for 1,000-3,000, which priced small labels out of a proper test. Production runs 7-12 working days after artwork approval, then ships DDP to your door. 
Brands sometimes start on a print-on-demand service like Arka, Packlane, or Noissue for speed. Those are fine for a first 50-100 and fast local turnaround, but unit price climbs and structural choice narrows as you scale: that is the point where a direct Guangzhou factory like ours tends to win on both price and range.
