What Is a Jeans Box?
A jeans box is a heavy-duty apparel pack. Denim is the densest garment most apparel brands ship - a pair of raw 14oz jeans weighs 700-900g, roughly three times a t-shirt - and it does not compress. The box therefore has to carry real weight in a shallow footprint without the base giving way.
A folded pair of jeans sits around 300x250x60mm, so a single-pair box is typically 320x260x70mm and a two-pair box needs 100-120mm of depth. That depth combined with the weight rules out E-flute for ship-alone packs: B-flute is the practical minimum, and the closure has to be a self-locking or fully interlocked build rather than a simple tuck.
Hardware is the second issue. Rivets, buttons and zips are metal against board, and in transit they abrade the inner face and can push through a light liner. On premium denim we interleave with tissue not for presentation but to stop the hardware marking the garment beneath it in a multi-pair pack.
Which Industries Use This Box, and How It Is Specified
Denim packaging is driven by weight per unit and by how many pairs ship together.
| Industry / use case | How we normally spec it |
|---|---|
| Single pair e-commerce | B-flute self-locking mailer around 320x260x70mm, printed inside, sealed with paper tape. |
| Premium and raw denim | Rigid lid and base or a heavier litho-laminated build, with tissue and a printed card explaining the wash and care. |
| Two and three-pair packs | Deeper B-flute or EB double wall box, with tissue interleaving so hardware does not mark the pair beneath. |
| Retail folded display | Litho-laminated E-flute with a window, sitting on a shelf rather than shipping alone. |
| Workwear and uniform supply | Plain B-flute in volume, specified for stacking strength in a warehouse rather than for appearance. |
| Returns and exchange | Reinforced box with a second adhesive lip - denim has one of the highest return rates in apparel, so the return pack is not an afterthought. |
Denim return rates are high because fit is hard to judge online. Building the return into the box - second lip, printed return instructions - measurably reduces support contacts and damaged returns.
Material Specification
This is a weight-driven specification. Board is chosen for base strength and edge crush, not for appearance.
| Component / stock | Specification |
|---|---|
| E-flute corrugated (1.5mm) | The workhorse of apparel packaging. Light, prints well litho-laminated or direct, and strong enough for folded garments shipped alone. |
| B-flute corrugated (3mm) | For heavier garments - denim, knitwear, outerwear - or where several units ship in one box. |
| Rigid greyboard 1.5-2mm | Wrapped in printed art paper for premium presentation boxes. Correct for gifting and luxury retail; not economical for volume e-commerce. |
| Folding board 350-400gsm | SBS, FBB or kraft board for lightweight garment cartons that sit inside an outer shipper rather than shipping alone. |
| Kraft liner | Unbleached brown kraft face for a natural, low-processing look. Prints best with 1-2 spot colours. |
| Tissue and interleaving | Acid-free tissue, printed tissue or a paper belly band. Adds perceived value at very low cost and protects delicate finishes. |
| EB double wall (4.5mm) | For multi-pair packs where the filled weight passes roughly 2.5kg and the box ships internationally on its own. |
Sustainability notes
- Corrugated board is the most widely recycled packaging material in the world, with recovery rates above 80-90% in most developed markets.
- The fluting medium is typically 70-100% recycled fibre, and the liner can be specified as recycled kraft rather than bleached white.
- Water-activated paper tape and paper-based void fill keep the whole parcel in a single recycling stream - one plastic tape strip is enough to break that.
- Right-sizing the box removes both board and void fill, and usually lowers dimensional-weight freight cost at the same time.
- Direct flexo printing on natural kraft avoids the plastic film of a litho-laminated finish and is the lower-impact route when the artwork allows it.
Structure and Size Options
Base construction is the decision that actually matters on a denim box.
| Option | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Flute | B-flute (3mm) minimum for single-pair ship-alone packs, EB double wall (4.5mm) for multi-pair or international shipping. |
| Closure | Self-locking mailer or fully interlocked base. A simple tuck bottom will fail under 800g of denim if the box is lifted from the top. |
| Interleaving | Tissue between pairs so rivets, buttons and zips do not mark the garment underneath in a multi-pair pack. |
| Interior print | Printed inner face with wash and care information - useful, and cheaper than a separate leaflet that gets thrown away. |
| Return provision | Second adhesive lip and printed return panel. Denim has one of the highest return rates in apparel. |
| Finish | Direct flexo on recycled kraft for the lowest impact, or litho-laminated where photographic artwork is required. |
Tell us the heaviest configuration the box will carry, not the typical one. A box specified for one pair and occasionally used for two is the most common cause of burst bases in this category.
Printing and Finishing
- Offset CMYK - photographic artwork, gradients and product imagery.
- Pantone spot colour - exact brand colour matching, up to 6 colours plus varnish.
- Digital printing - the reason we can hold MOQ at 100; no plate cost on short runs.
- Hot foil stamping - gold, silver, rose gold, holographic. The most requested logo finish.
- Emboss / deboss - raised or recessed logo, with or without foil.
- Spot UV - gloss varnish over a matte laminate to pick out a logo or pattern.
- Finishes - matte, gloss, soft-touch, anti-scratch lamination or aqueous varnish.
Ordering: MOQ, Dieline and Lead Time
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| MOQ | 100 pcs per size and per design |
| Dieline | Free. We send a print-ready structural dieline to your designer before you commit to anything. |
| Pre-production sample | Plain structural sample in 3-5 days, printed sample in 5-7 days. Sample cost is credited against the bulk order. |
| Production lead time | 10-15 working days after artwork and sample sign-off |
| Artwork format | AI or PDF, CMYK, 300dpi, 3mm bleed, fonts outlined, placed on our dieline |
| Shipping | Ships flat-packed, which keeps freight volume and duty low. |
If you ship both single and double pairs, two sizes almost always beat one compromise size. A half-empty oversized box costs more in dimensional-weight freight than the second dieline costs to tool.

Packing Method For Corrugated Packaging:
Generally no need to put the PE bags inside of the cartons. Since the boxes are glued a layer of cardboard, generally production time is not long enough to dry the paper box. If you tie the PE bags, the steamed water pearl will be produced inside of the bags.

Frequently Asked Questions
What board do I need for a jeans box?
B-flute (3mm) is the practical minimum for a single pair shipping alone, and EB double wall (4.5mm) for two or three pairs or international transit. Denim is the densest garment in apparel - a raw 14oz pair is 700-900g - and E-flute simply does not carry that in a ship-alone pack.
What size box fits a pair of jeans?
A folded pair is roughly 300x250x60mm, so a single-pair box is typically 320x260x70mm. A two-pair box needs 100-120mm of depth. Send us a folded pair if you can - denim fold height varies noticeably between 10oz and 14oz fabric.
Why does the base construction matter so much?
Because the load is concentrated and the box is often lifted from the top. A simple tuck bottom will fail under 800g of denim. A self-locking mailer or a fully interlocked base puts the weight on a closed panel instead of on two overlapping flaps.
How do I stop rivets and zips marking the garment?
Tissue interleaving between pairs in a multi-pair pack. It is not a presentation choice in this case - metal hardware pressed against denim in transit abrades both the board and the garment beneath, and a single sheet of tissue prevents it.
Should the box be designed for returns?
For denim, yes. Fit is hard to judge online and this category has one of the highest return rates in apparel. A second adhesive lip and a printed return panel measurably reduce support contacts and the number of returns that arrive damaged in a reused box.
What is your MOQ and lead time for denim boxes?
100 pcs per size, 10-15 working days after artwork and sample sign-off. If you ship both single and double pairs, order two sizes rather than one compromise - the dimensional-weight freight cost of a half-empty box exceeds the cost of the second dieline very quickly.
