What Is a Router Packaging Box?
A router box is a functional electronics pack with a very different priority set from a consumer gadget. Routers are mostly bought online or supplied by an ISP, they ship one at a time through a courier network, and the box has to carry a bulky device with antennas, a power adapter and cables while being cheap enough to work at telecom volumes.
This makes it a corrugated category rather than a rigid one. E-flute for retail-facing units and B-flute or EB double wall for ship-alone packs, litho-laminated where the artwork has to be photographic. A rigid greyboard build would be over-specified: the customer relationship is with the network service, not with the box.
The awkward part is the antennas. Detachable antennas need their own seated cavities or they will migrate and puncture the box wall; fixed antennas mean the cradle has to accommodate a shape that is much wider than the body. Either way the void volume in a router pack is large, which is why cavity design directly affects the dimensional-weight freight cost.

- Corrugated is the most widely recycled packaging material in the world, and a router box built entirely from board and paper cradles recycles as a single stream.
- A die-cut corrugated cradle replaces the EPE foam still common in networking hardware, at similar cost and with no loss of protection for this weight class.
- Recycled kraft liner and 70-100% recycled fluting medium are standard specifications, not premium options.
- Cutting void volume around the antennas lowers dimensional-weight freight cost as well as material use - in this category the two savings run together.
- Direct flexo print on natural kraft avoids the plastic film of a litho-laminated finish where the artwork allows it.

At ISP and telecom volumes the direct flexo route on recycled kraft is substantially cheaper than litho-lamination and performs identically in transit. We quote both so the cost difference at your volume is visible.

Packing Method For Corrugated Packaging:
Generally no need to put the PE bags inside of the cartons. Since the boxes are glued a layer of cardboard, generally production time is not long enough to dry the paper box. If you tie the PE bags, the steamed water pearl will be produced inside of the bags.

Should router packaging be rigid or corrugated?
Corrugated, in almost every case. Routers ship one at a time through courier networks and are usually bought online or supplied by an ISP, so transit performance and unit cost matter more than unboxing. A rigid greyboard build is over-specified here and roughly triples the pack cost for no commercial return.
How do you package detachable antennas?
Each antenna gets its own seated cavity in the die-cut cradle. Loose antennas are one of the most common transit failures in this category - they migrate inside the box and puncture the wall from the inside, which usually only shows up when the customer opens a damaged carton.
Which flute should I use?
E-flute (1.5mm) for retail-shelf units, B-flute (3mm) for heavier devices, and EB double wall (4.5mm) when the pack ships internationally on its own without an overbox. The flute is chosen for the transit duty; the print method is chosen separately for the artwork.
Can I get photographic artwork on a corrugated box?
Yes, through litho-lamination - a printed litho sheet laminated to the flute. Direct flexo is limited to 1-3 spot colours but is significantly cheaper at volume. For ISP programmes flexo on recycled kraft is normally the right call; for retail shelf, litho.
Can foam be avoided in networking packaging?
Yes. A die-cut corrugated cradle replaces EPE foam at similar cost and with no loss of protection at this weight class, and it keeps the whole parcel in one recycling stream. For this category there is very little reason left to specify foam.
