What Is an Auto Bottom Box?
An auto bottom, also called a crash bottom or auto-lock bottom, is a folding carton with a pre-glued base that snaps into a rigid square shape the moment the carton is pressed open. The top still uses a tuck closure.
How It Is Built
The bottom is glued at the manufacturer and arrives flat. When the operator opens the carton, the side walls pull the base into place automatically, so no folding of the bottom is needed at the packing line. This speeds up manual and semi-automatic filling.
Common Applications
Auto bottom boxes are ideal for heavier or fragile items such as glass bottles, jars, candles, cosmetics and gourmet food, where a strong base matters and packing speed counts.

How does an auto bottom box work?
The bottom panels are pre-glued during manufacturing. The carton ships flat, and when you squeeze the two side panels the base snaps into a locked, load-bearing bottom in about one second. No tape, glue or manual folding is needed at your packing station.
How much weight can an auto bottom carton hold?
With 400gsm SBS a typical auto bottom carton comfortably supports 1-3 kg. Laminated E-flute versions handle 5 kg or more. Send us the product weight and dimensions and we will specify the right board grade.
Is an auto bottom box worth the extra cost over a tuck bottom?
If you pack more than a few hundred units by hand, yes. Auto bottom cartons cut assembly time by roughly 70% compared with a 1-2-3 bottom, so the labour saving usually outweighs the higher unit price within one production run.
What is the minimum order quantity?
500 pieces. Auto bottom cartons need a gluing pass in production, so pricing improves noticeably at 2,000 pieces and above.
Can auto bottom cartons be shipped flat?
Yes. They arrive fully glued but knocked down flat, which keeps freight volume low and storage compact until you are ready to pack.

Packing Method For Corrugated Packaging:
Generally no need to put the PE bags inside of the cartons. Since the boxes are glued a layer of cardboard, generally production time is not long enough to dry the paper box. If you tie the PE bags, the steamed water pearl will be produced inside of the bags.
